Celebrating World Bee Day with Salt of the Earth - Salt of the Earth Natural Deodorants

The month of May celebrated World Bee Day, and at Salt of the Earth we wanted to give our amazing community the opportunity to bring more life to their gardens by giving away 100 wildflower grenades by SeedBom™!

These 100% bio-based, compostable pods are made from a starch and natural fibre-based shell, and contain organic peat-free compost, non-GMO seeds & 100% recycled and recyclable glue free cardboard packaging. We gifted 100 of these SeedBom’s as part of our sustainability promise to help reduce the environmental impact of our company and our customers. We were thrilled to send 100 lucky winners a SeedBom last month to help bring more life to their gardens!

About World Bee Day

Bees and other pollinators play a crucial role in food production and agriculture, and without bees, many crops would fail across the globe. According to the Soil Association, bees are estimated to provide billions of dollars of pollination services to farmers worldwide, with around 70 crops in the UK that depend on or benefit from bee pollination.

Bees are in decline globally due to pesticide use intended to eliminate other destructive species, and due to habitat loss. In the UK alone, 35 species of bees are under threat from extinction. If bees disappeared completely, it could cost farmers £1.8 billion a year to manually pollinate their crops, as well as being an incredibly labour-intensive process. Some parts of China have already been forced to adopt this technique in areas where natural pollinators are no longer abundant.

How Can We Help the Bees?

By planting more bee friendly plants such as the wildflowers found in the SeedBom™, we can create more healthy habitats for bees and other pollinators to thrive. By avoiding pesticides and insecticides in your garden, and supporting local organic farmers, we can create a better place for bees to live. For more tips on how to support these heroic pollinators, search #SaveTheBees or visit the Bumblebee Conservation Trust website.
